This month’s Luxebox came extremely late for me. It didn’t even come in April! It came, May 1st. Okay, technically it came April 30th, but I didn’t have time to pick it up that day. Still, one day difference really isn’t much. I found that my Luxebox are being delivered later and later in the month. Maybe my May one will come in June? We’ll see.. we’ll see….
Does my box seem a bit on the little side? It does, but losing one item this month, we donated to charity instead. Since, April is Daffodil month Loose Button donated on our behalf to the Canadian Cancer Society. I think it was a fantastic idea! We gave up one item to donate to something meaningful. However, a part of me goes.. “Where’s my tax receipt?!” Obviously, I won’t get any. I got a daffodil pin instead. But I also received:
Essie – Nail Polish in Pink-a-Boo [buy from amazon.com]
In Box & Full Size: 13.5mL ($8.00)
This item was part of the “First-in-Line” program that Loose Button has. There are several deluxe items but only limited quantities that Loose Button receives monthly. Once a month, we schedule a time on their website and when our appointment time arrives, we get to pick from about 4 different deluxe items. I didn’t know much about the other items, so I picked an Essie nail polish. I really like the quality, consistency, and how long lasting Essie nail polishes are. However, this colour isn’t my cup of tea. It’s a somewhat opaque baby pink with loads of shimmer. I put it on for 5 minutes and had to take it off. I couldn’t even stand to take a picture of it. I’m sure my sister would like colours like this, so I’m probably going to give this to her.
Seche - Seche Clear Ridge Filing Base Coat [buy from amazon.com]
In Box: 3.8mL sample size ($1.77 CAD)
Full Size: 15mL ($7.00 CAD)
Funny, because I’m actually using this base coat right now for my nail polishes and I really do like it. I use to like their top coat and read a lot of good reviews on that too, but I ended up liking Essie top coats more. They dry much faster and they have the same glossiness.
Chi - Silk Fusion [buy from amazon.com]
In Box: 15mL sample size ($2.75 CAD)
Full Size: 180mL ($33.00 CAD)
Chi has been on my “to try” list for the past few years now. I’ve seen so many YouTube gurus use this product, but honestly, the price is a big turn off for me. This product is suppose to protect your hair from any hot tools that you use. Personally, I don’t like to put too much product in my hair on a daily basis, but I use my Moroccanoil and I think that’s suffice. However, next time I go curly, I’m definitely going to give this a try because my hair is pretty dry and prone to split ends.
Pantene - Pro-V Aqua Light Shampoo [buy from amazon.com] & Conditioner [buy from amazon.com]
In Box: Shampoo – 50mL sample size ($0.80 CAD) & Conditioner – 50mL sample size ($0.80 CAD)
Full Size: Shampoo – 375mL ($6.00 CAD) & Conditioner – 375mL ($6.00 CAD)
Yay Pantene! They use to be one of my favourite shampoos and conditioners since it was inexpensive, cleans my hair pretty well, and does not leave my hair greasy. This is a new product that Loose Button received for their subscribers to try out. They advertise it as a weightless formula using water-soluble ingredients and gel formulations. I don’t think I would have time to try it out though. I have so many other shampoos and conditioners to go through. I feel so sad for all the sample shampoos and conditioners I’ve been getting. Hopefully I will get to it soon.
Overall my Luxe Box is worth $14.12 ($8.00 + $1.77 + $2.75 + $0.80 + $0.80) excluding the donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. They never put a price of how much money the donated on our behalf. Since I have a yearly subscription, it costs me about $10.00 a box, so I think I got a pretty good deal out of it. However, is it items that I would like to try? Yes. Is it items I would want? No. Am I excited about this box? Not really. The Essie nail polish had too much shimmer for me to like it at all. Maybe next time I will finally get more makeup based products and my box will come actually within the month it’s for. That is what I mainly why I signed up for LuxeBox.
