Back around the end of January, I found on Yelp a local burger joint called The Prime Burger. It was rated one of the better burger joints in Markham. Then I forgot about it until one starving Saturday afternoon LOLO brought it up and off we went to The Prime Burger.
If I remember correctly, this place has been located south of Woodbine and Hwy 7 and I always pass by their dull looking yellow and red cross sign before heading to Costco but I never made any attempt to go in. The joint has been basically been here since the day I moved to Unionville – kindergarten.
When arriving to the Prime Burger, everything is really old, like I walked into the 70s-80s era. It’s not a fancy decorative place. It has a few small 2-seater tables and picnic benches outside of the shop. But it was clean and tidy minus all the snow and dirt people brought into the joint.
The menu is entirely listed on the wall. Not a large list of items as expected, but I never expected to see schnitzel or souvlaki on the menu. But I wasn’t here for the alternatives, I was here for a burger!
Right beside the menu was the combo menu. We ordered Combo 2 and Combo 3 – a cheeseburger and banquet burger.
There was only one person behind the counter who ran the joint. So, it took a little while longer for it to come out, but the place was clean. One way to tell the place is clean is the kitchen’s hood. Their kitchen’s hood was so clean. It was pretty amazing.
When the food came it, it was all wrapped up nice an pretty.
I ended up with the cheeseburger. Classic looking burger with typical toppings.
LOLO ordered the banquet burger which is bacon, cheese and a juicy patty and with minimal toppings.
The first question LOLO asked when I bite into my burger, was how does it taste. It tasted clean, juicy and nothing like a McDonald’s burger that tastes like it was doused in MSG. I really enjoy a burger that tastes like a real burger and this was it. No, it’s not the best burger I’ve tasted, but the most decent for the price that doesn’t feel like it would give me a heart attack.
Plus, we had fries on the side. They were typical fries, but Costco fries do taste better however, they were clean and tasted like potatoes.
If you were looking for a clean burger with little to no MSG for a decent price, this place is it. I’ve been there two more times after my first visit. Two too many times, I’ll say. Definitely shouldn’t have so many burgers in such a short period of time! Bad for my waistline!
